Arrival Notifications
The new feature called Arrival Notifications allows users to specify a particular destination location on the map via Snap Map, and then choose to send an automatic alert to a friend or a group of friends upon reaching this place.
Users can choose whether the notification is one-time or recurring, such as a notification upon arriving at a weekly lesson, a sports practice location, or even when the user reaches a hotel while traveling.
This means the user does not need to send a manual message each time they arrive at a specific place.
How does the feature work?
For the system to work, the user must share their location with a trusted friend inside the app via Snap Map. After that, they can go to the friendship profile and then choose Arrival Notifications, select a place on the map, and name it something like a music class or anything else.
Then, it must be decided whether the alert is one-time or recurring. If a one-time notification is chosen and the place is not reached within 24 hours, the notification automatically expires.
Also, sharing of location and notifications does not show to anyone unless the user explicitly decides to share them.
Notification Restrictions
Snapchat confirmed that the feature of sharing location and notifications is only based on the choice of the user, and the service is not activated by default.
This means that no one can see your location or receive your arrival notifications unless you share your location yourself.
It was confirmed that the settings can be controlled so that sharing or receiving notifications can be stopped at any time, giving users full control over their privacy.
