Khaberni - The name of the retired Egyptian actress Miar Elbeblawi has resurfaced, today, Sunday, as the competent court in Cairo looks into a compensation lawsuit filed by Elbeblawi against the famous cleric Mohamed Abu Bakr, demanding a total of 5.7 million EGP for insulting and defamation.
Lawyer Abdullah Awad Mansour - Elbeblawi's agent - filed a compensation lawsuit before the Cairo Economic Court of First Instance, demanding that Mohamed Abu Bakr be ordered to pay a total compensation of 5 million, 750 thousand, and one EGP, based on his final conviction in an insult and defamation case.
The lawsuit also mentioned that the Egyptian cleric had been previously convicted after proving that he uploaded a video on his personal Facebook account, which contained defamatory phrases and allegations infringing on honor, constituting an attack on family values and misuse of social media.
Moreover, the lawsuit added that the first instance court sentenced the defendant to two months in prison and a fine of 20,000 EGP, with an obligation to pay 50,000 EGP as temporary civil compensation, a verdict that was upheld by the Court of Misdemeanor Appeals with suspension of the prison sentence execution, before the Court of Cassation rejected the defendant's appeal, finalizing and reaffirming the sentence.
The lawsuit indicated that the damages inflicted upon the Egyptian actress were not limited to moral damage but also extended to severe financial harms, reflected in the cancellation of media contracts and deprivation from appearing on satellite TV, as well as familial and psychological damage, including medical expenses and legal fees for the case.
Returned to her husband 11 times
The story dates back to April 2025, when the retired Egyptian actress sparked controversy by talking about her separation and returning to her first husband 11 times, prompting Sheikh Al-Azhari to comment on it, and the actress threatened to sue him for slander and defamation, accusing her of "adultery".
For his part, the Sheikh responded to the actress that he did not speak in her case, commenting in a live broadcast on his Facebook: "I did not address Miar Elbeblawi with insult, defamation, or slander; I described the act without mentioning the person.. Why did I mention her name initially? Because she was the speaker and she declared and spoke".
He added, "I stated a religious ruling for which I am accountable before God, and I may apologize to the actress only if the court rules her innocent, and I will apologize because she was upset".
Collapse and crying
Meanwhile, the retired actress collapsed during a live broadcast on Facebook, stating that she did not care about what was being said about her, but the matter escalated to assault on honor and dignity, noting that one of the known clerics accused her of adultery in one of his TikTok videos.
She added that she was in shock from this accusation especially since she holds a master's degree in Comparative Fiqh and a PhD in Religious Discourse and Islamic Culture.
Elbeblawi revealed a major crisis she was facing due to these accusations, as her family members, especially her eldest son, had cut off contact with her because of it, further stating that her uncles had called her in a state of extreme anger, asking her to clarify what was happening and resolve the crisis.
