Egyptian artist Wael Awni responded to the rumors concerning his recent conversion to Islam, indicating that he is a Muslim and his name is Wael El-Sayed Ahmed.
Wael Awni, the star of "Masrah Masr" team, commented on those rumors with a sarcastic post on his Facebook account: "Alright, by God, I am not responding".
Wael Awni also stated to "Basraha" website: "Guys, I am a Muslim, by God, I worship our Lord and my name is Wael El-Sayed Ahmed.. Did someone tell you I was pretending?.. I don't know what this amount of malicious rumors about me is."
In fact, these rumors have no basis in truth, as artist Wael Awni is a Muslim by religion and had performed Umrah years ago, posting pictures of himself in Ihram clothes on Facebook two years ago.
Moreover, Wael Awni had dominated the trend on several social media platforms after the spread of these baseless rumors about his conversion to Islam and its declaration at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
