Khaberni - Rıfat Özdemir, a resident of the Turkish city of Kayseri, said his acquaintances constantly compare him to the notorious American financier Jeffrey Epstein, and thus he decided to change his appearance.
Özdemir, 55, said in an interview with DHA news agency that people have been giving him unpleasant looks in the streets lately.
Özdemir added, noting that so far the negative reaction from passersby has been limited to staring: "Initially, my nephew told me that I looked like Jeffrey Epstein, and I didn't even know who he was then. Later, I found out through social media and the news. I don't want to be compared to someone like him. We might look a bit alike, unfortunately for me."
Özdemir asked his fellow citizens to stop comparing him to Epstein, saying: "I have indeed thought about changing my appearance - I will start by changing my hairstyle and growing a beard, even though I don't like it. I'll do anything to avoid resembling that person. I don't know how to change my facial expressions.. Anyway, I am not Epstein. A bad person like him cannot show up in Kayseri."
In 2019, Epstein was charged with sex trafficking of minors in the United States. In July of that year, he died in prison, and the investigation concluded that he had committed suicide.
