Khaberni - A Belgian woman found herself in a shocking situation after she accidentally swallowed a 17-centimeter spoon while eating, which occurred when her dog suddenly jumped on her.
Rémi Amlinck, 28, said she had to choose between choking or swallowing the spoon, noting that it "slid smoothly into her stomach."
In media statements, she added that she was sitting on the couch while eating yogurt, and when her dog, a "Hungarian Vizsla" known for its energy, jumped, it surprised her greatly, causing the spoon to unintentionally get stuck in her throat, she tried to remove it with her hand, but the situation was too fast and she had no choice but to swallow it to avoid choking.
Feeling embarrassed, she did not tell her partner what had happened immediately upon his return from work, and claimed that everything was fine.
After having dinner, she realized the seriousness of the situation and went to the doctors who told her that the spoon was too large to pass naturally, which necessitated waiting for a gastroscopy procedure.
During this period, the patient felt the movement of the spoon inside her body, her body became bloated, and she experienced nausea and difficulty sleeping.
Two days later, under local anesthesia, the spoon was removed; the doctors had to rotate it inside the stomach, causing minor bleeding. Rémi confirmed that the incident did not leave any permanent damage, but she did suffer from throat inflammation, minor stomach bleeding, and was sensitive for some time.
Despite the painful experience, Rémi decided to keep the spoon as a memento and said her partner plans to turn it into a unique art piece in their home.
