Dahlan and Olmert Discuss the Next Day in Gaza in Abu Dhabi

Khaberni - Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with Palestinian leader Mohammed Dahlan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in a move aimed at discussing the prospects for regional settlement and the possibilities of advancing a feasible political process, and examining the next day in the Gaza Strip.

Olmert emphasized that he prefers not to comment on the meeting.

Dahlan is considered one of the prominent leaders of the Fatah movement, and has previously been discussed as a potential candidate to succeed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Dahlan confirmed that he is not seeking any political or security position, calling for the development of a practical international action plan to establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

International sources indicate that Dahlan is seen as a pivotal element in any future efforts to reorganize the situation in the Gaza Strip, and that his name is consistently highlighted in regional discussions about the future of Palestinian leadership.
