Khaberni - Russian customs officials in the Port of Saint Petersburg thwarted a smuggling attempt of a rare meteorite piece weighing more than 2.5 tons and valued at about 323 million Russian rubles to the United Kingdom.
The value of the meteorite (323 million Russian rubles) is approximately 4.19 million dollars. The meteorite was discovered during an inspection of a sea shipping container at the port using scanners.
According to preliminary information, the smugglers tried to obscure the true nature of the stone by claiming it was a "sculpture" meant for garden decoration.
