Khaberni - The head of the National Cybersecurity Center, Mohammad Al-Samadi, stated that the number of cybersecurity incidents decreased by about 30% compared between the years 2025 and 2024, attributing this to increased awareness in addition to providing advanced protection systems.
He added that the number of attacks last year was about 4,000 attacks, while in the year 2024 the number reached 6,000 attacks, according to Al-Mamlaka channel.
Al-Samadi emphasized that these attacks include public sector institutions.
Regarding the reasons for the decrease in incidents, he said this was due to increased awareness and the expansion of technical systems concerned with the state of Jordan's digital assets.
He pointed out that despite broadening response operations, the number of incidents decreased due to protection programs and enhancing the system and awareness among users.
He confirmed the center's pursuit of excellence and keeping up with technological capabilities and enhancing the national cybersecurity system on several levels, through training where a national awareness campaign targeting all segments of society will be launched.
Al-Samadi stressed that the main focus of any awareness campaign is the "individual."
Al-Samadi described the current year, 2026, as the year of awareness on how to protect from cybersecurity attacks, focusing on the human factor in this awareness.
When asked about the reality of cybersecurity in Jordan and the security of the cyber space, Al-Samadi said that the center aims for a secure cyber space through deliberate steps and transitioning from reaction to proaction, through seeking to develop programs and awareness, leading to the response stage before an incident occurs, and this comes with awareness and well-studied steps as the individual is the focus of cybersecurity awareness, specifically public sector and critical infrastructure employees.
"Our strategy is built on reaching our desired goal which is a safe and reliable cyber space capable of resisting challenges and cyber threats, supported by our national capabilities (...) The issue of secure cyber space is a relative operation depending on the user and their compliance with the directives of the National Cybersecurity Center," according to Al-Samadi
