Khaberni - A number of parents in China have turned to printing exam papers and homework on a giant scale to encourage their children to complete their school tasks, a move that has sparked a wave of interaction on Chinese social media platforms.
The phenomenon began in January 2025 when a mother from Hubei province in central China decided to print massive test papers for her son, justifying it by saying that this method ensures he does not miss any questions.
The photos showed the child lying on the floor working on a Chinese language test paper nearly one meter long, while the spaces designated for answers were about the size of his hand.
The mother paid 25 Chinese Yuan (4 US dollars) for printing two A0 sized papers, a size typically used for outdoor signs and billboards, confirming that the large size helped her son enjoy doing his homework and maintain his focus while solving.
The mother's posts garnered over 100,000 likes on Chinese social media platforms, prompting other families to try the same method, and a mother from Sichuan province in southwest China named Wang said her child requested another round of giant papers after finishing the first set.
However, the experience was not successful with all children, as a mother from Heilongjiang province in northern China said she spent 60 Yuan (9 dollars) on printing 4 large sheets, but the result was disappointing.
She said in statements carried by the website "scmp" that her son initially thought the giant papers were toys, but felt deeply disappointed and refused to study more when he realized they were homework.
A social media follower commented jokingly that the method is great because the child can use the paper as a blanket when tired, while another wrote that children will no longer be able to complain about making mistakes on the grounds that they could not see the questions clearly.
