Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Mohannad Al-Ezzah confirmed that the Council will start receiving applications for renewing identification cards for people with disabilities starting from the 15th of the current month.
Al-Ezzah added to the program "Downtown" with Dr. Hani Al-Badri on "Fun" radio that priority in renewing the card would be given to persons with disabilities whose health insurance has expired, and students applying for the Student Support Fund.
Al-Ezzah noted that approximately 700 students with disabilities obtained their identification cards, after the formation of a special committee to receive them whose transactions were pending in renewing or obtaining the identification card.
Al-Ezzah said that the delay in renewing the identification card was due to the necessity of opening the file and investigating it fully; especially after discovering cases who obtained the card without any entitlement.
He emphasized that approximately 1000 cases were referred to the Anti-Corruption Authority; after discovering that they obtained the identification card unlawfully.
He added that the issue of exemption from the fees for hiring a housemaid was one of the causes that led to obtaining the identification card through illegal means.
