Khaberni - The Greater Tafila Municipality announced the closure of Al Mansourah (Al Sayl) road to traffic until further notice, to preserve the safety of the citizens from the areas of Al Mansourah and 'Ayma, following road erosion and flash floods in recent days.
The Municipality's president, Dr. Mohammad Al-Karimiyin, confirmed that the municipal staff and machinery began precautionarily closing the road after rainwater flowed onto parts of it, causing erosion, accumulation of stones, gravel, and debris, which poses a danger to vehicles and increases the likelihood of slipping.
He pointed out that the municipality has set up an operations room that works around the clock to receive complaints and observations from the citizens, and has provided the necessary machinery and equipment to deal with any potential road closures caused by snow accumulation or landslides of soil and rocks, indicating that among its tasks is to open the internal roads between neighborhoods, residential clusters, and schools in cooperation with the relevant official entities.
He indicated that the municipal staff has completed treatment works in several vital spots affected by the recent rainfalls, which resulted in erosion, accumulation of debris, soil, and the emergence of water ponds on some roads, among them the harvesting bend in Wadi Zaid area.
