Jordan  The Meteorological Department publishes details of the prevailing weather conditions until Friday

Khaberni - The Meteorological Department reported that, God willing, the Kingdom will be affected from Wednesday by a strong state of atmospheric instability, where the rain will begin in the southern regions including Aqaba, and gradually extend to cover wide areas of the Kingdom including the capital Amman. God willing, in the afternoon hours, the downpours are expected to be heavy at times and accompanied by thunder and hail, leading to the formation of floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Aqaba area and the Dead Sea.

During the night hours of Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold and humid air mass accompanying a low-pressure system, which will continue the cold, cloudy, and rainy weather in many areas, with rain being heavy especially in the western parts, and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

The cold and rainy weather will continue on Thursday with a noticeable drop in temperatures, where heavy rain is expected at times in some areas, leading to the formation of floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea, in addition to clear activity of the winds and strong gusts in some areas which may sometimes exceed 60 km/h. It is also not excluded that in the early morning hours of Thursday, light showers of snow mixed with rain might fall on the tops of the Sharah mountains for a short period.

On Friday, the intensity of the situation will diminish and a slight rise in temperatures will occur, with the weather remaining cold and partly to fully cloudy, and rain falling intermittently in the western parts of the Kingdom, before gradually weakening during the evening hours.

The Meteorological Department warned with the Kingdom being affected by this situation of the danger of floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas, including warnings for Aqaba and the Dead Sea, and of the risk of lightning, thunder, and hail which may sometimes be heavy in some areas, in addition to reduced horizontal visibility due to fog, as well as the risk of slipping on roads during rainfall, and the activity of winds and strong gusts.

The Meteorological Department urged citizens to take precautions and avoid the courses of valleys, and to follow weather updates promptly through the meteorological department's social media pages and subscribing to the WhatsApp channel of the meteorological administration.
