Egypt Endorsement of the Death Sentence for the Accused of Ending the Lives of Delgas Young Ones and Their Father

Khaberni - The Minya Criminal Court of Appeal ruled on Monday to uphold the death sentence issued against the accused of killing the six Delga children and their father, after reviewing her appeal and following the opinion of the Grand Mufti supporting the execution of the death penalty.

The chief justice stated that the accused committed a criminal act that led to the souls of the victims being separated from their bodies by killing, and that it is established by both religious and legal precision that the punishment should fit the crime, in accordance with the verse: "And there is for you in legal retribution saving of life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous" truly God is great, and affirming the saying of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him: "To implement one of Allah's prescribed penalties on Earth is better for its people than if it were to rain for forty mornings", and confirming what was stated by Jesus Christ, peace be upon him: "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you".

After reviewing article (381) paragraph (2) of the Criminal Procedure Law, amended by law No. (1) of the year 2024, and after deliberation legally, the court unanimously decided to refer the case files to the honored Grand Mufti for a religious opinion, with a session set later for pronouncing the judgment, and continuing the detention of the accused pending the case, with the Public Prosecution tasked with handling its affairs.
