Violent Winter Storm Paralyzes Air Traffic in America and Cancels Thousands of Flights

Khaberni - A strong winter storm that struck the southern and eastern United States caused the cancellation of thousands of flights and warnings of record cold and fierce winds.

A winter storm that swept through large areas of the United States, especially the south and east, cancelled more than 2100 flights, according to the German news agency, amid heavy snowfall and severe weather disruptions.

The eastern states are experiencing a persistent severe cold wave that extends its effects to the southern Florida, with concerns about recording record temperatures that could threaten citrus crops and exacerbate the impacts of harsh weather on vital sectors.

Bob Oravec, the senior meteorologist at the US Weather Prediction Center, said that the winter storm warnings include parts of southern Virginia and eastern Tennessee and both North and South Carolina, confirming the expanding impact as the storm progresses.

He added that the storm also extends to areas of northeastern Georgia, coinciding with its intensification along the southern coast of the Atlantic Ocean, which threatens to dump between 6 and 8 inches of snow, equivalent to 15 to 20 centimeters, over a wide geographic area.

According to Bloomberg, the storm is expected to bring strong winds with speeds up to 45 miles per hour, increasing the risks of disrupting transportation and complicating efforts to deal with the repercussions of harsh weather in the coming days.
