Saudi Official We Reject the Use of Our Airspace or Territory Against Iran

Khaberni - A high-level Saudi official assured the newspaper "Al Sharq Al Awsat" of the inaccuracy of reports circulating in some media about a change in the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the escalation in the region.
The official's statement came in response to what was published on the website "Axios" regarding statements attributed to the Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman.

The high-ranking official emphasized to "Al Sharq Al Awsat" that the Saudi stance is firm, based on supporting efforts to find a peaceful solution to all contentious issues between the United States and Iran, through dialogue and diplomatic means, which contributes to reducing tensions and enhancing security and stability in the region.

The source, in his statement to "Al Sharq Al Awsat", confirmed the Kingdom's categorical refusal to use its airspace or territory in any military actions targeting Iran, reaffirming Riyadh's commitment to a policy of avoiding escalation and pushing towards political solutions.

This Saudi clarification comes after what was reported by the American site "Axios", which spoke about a closed briefing held in Washington, and quoted sources saying that Prince Khalid bin Salman considered that Washington’s stepping back from executing military action against Tehran might weaken regional deterrence and give Iran a broader margin to enhance its influence.

However, the Saudi official clarified that this reading does not reflect the official position of the Kingdom, which Riyadh has repeatedly expressed in its public communications, including its affirmation of respecting Iran's sovereignty, and its eagerness to not engage in any military path that could lead to serious regional repercussions.

He added that Saudi Arabia continues to work with its regional and international partners to prioritize calm and diplomacy, warning that any new military confrontation in the region would be costly for all parties involved.

The official reaffirmed that the Kingdom believes there are no military solutions to the regional crises, and that stability can only be achieved through political understandings and adherence to international law.
