Khaberni - The Kuwaiti Public Prosecution issued a statement in which it indicated that the Attorney General directed the formation of a specialized team from the Public Prosecution Office to initiate investigation procedures regarding a complaint filed on 11/1/2026 concerning hundreds of agricultural holdings allocated during the period from 2017 to 2020.
The facts under investigation revealed crimes represented by trading in public office as bribery, intentional damage to state property for unlawful material gain, facilitating the misappropriation of agricultural holdings subsidies, forgery in official documents, followed by the circulation of these holdings through sales and laundering the money obtained, and eventually leading to money laundering arising from these crimes.
The investigation has shown that the facts do not represent individual cases or mere administrative deviations but revealed an organized system where the intentions of its parties collaborated to exploit public office and to secure illegal profit from these holdings, misappropriate the designated subsidies, deviate them from their allocation purposes, dissipate their developmental goals, and harm the state's food security.
The Public Prosecution commenced the investigation with twenty-one 21 accused individuals, including leaders and former and current employees at the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, State Property Administration, and other related entities. The Public Prosecution took a set of urgent precautionary measures including securing the bank accounts of the accused, freezing their financial and real estate transactions, and it was decided to detain sixteen 16 suspects in pretrial detention and detain five others pending investigation.
The Public Prosecution confirms that the investigations are ongoing, conducted in a manner that considers the nature of the case and its dimensions, aiming for a comprehensive understanding of the facts, with full commitment to the guarantees of justice and defense rights, and in a way that protects public funds and preserves public office within its legitimate framework.
