Khaberni - The Director of Meteorology, Raed Rafed Al-Khatab, stated that the Kingdom was affected yesterday, Wednesday, by the seventh and last low-pressure area within the winter quadrature of 2025/2026, which was accompanied by a cold and humid air mass, leading to cold and cloudy weather across various regions.
Al-Khatab explained that the rainfall started in the northern regions, then gradually extended to the central areas and parts of the eastern regions, with the showers being heavy at times and for short periods in some northern and central areas, accompanied by thunder and occasional hail, which led to an increase in water levels in valleys and low-lying areas. The rains also reached limited parts of the southwestern regions, with moderate westerly winds that were occasionally brisk.
He added that the total rainfall recorded since the beginning of this low-pressure system's influence until nine o'clock on Thursday morning contributed to raising the percentages of the current rainy season 2025/2026 by between (1% – 5%) of the general seasonal rainfall average, especially in the central and northern areas.
The Director of Meteorology indicated that the Ras Munif recording station in the northern regions registered the highest rainfall during this low-pressure system with (25.4) mm, which constitutes 4% of its seasonal average, followed by the Hussein Gardens recording station in the central regions with a total rainfall of (20.0) mm and 4%, then the Sama recording station in the northern regions with a total of (17 mm and 4% of its seasonal average.
He pointed out that the Mafraq recording station recorded the highest rainfall in the eastern regions with (6 mm and 5% of its seasonal average, while the Rabba station in the Karak governorate recorded the highest rainfall in the southwestern regions with (4.6) mm and 1% of its seasonal average.
Al-Khatab concluded by clarifying that the graph shows the performance of the current rainy season 2025/2026 until January 29, 2026, while the attached map shows the distribution of percentages achieved of the general seasonal rainfall average in various regions of the Kingdom until this date. With the Kingdom affected by the last low-pressure system in the winter quadrature of 2025/2026, the percentage of what has been achieved of the general seasonal average at the national level has reached about 72% since the beginning of the current rainy season until nine o'clock on Thursday morning, January 29, 2026.
