FIFA reveals the historic spending in the 2025 transfer window

Khaberni - The year 2025 witnessed record spending on transfers in the professional men's football category reaching $13.08 billion, according to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), on Wednesday.

FIFA published its annual report concurrently with the launch of the interactive website for the global transfer report, which provides users with an interactive platform to view detailed data on transfers and learn about the key trends in each national federation around the world.

It was revealed that the year 2025 marked "a historic record with 86,158 international transfers in the men's, women's, and amateur categories."

It added: "For the first time ever (among men), clubs' expenditure on transfer fees surpassed the $10 billion US dollar mark, a 50% increase from what was spent in 2024, and a higher percentage increase of 35.6% compared to the previous record set in 2023."

 

English clubs most spend in 2025 transfers

The report continued: "English clubs were the biggest spenders and earners of transfer fees in the professional men's football category, spending a total of $3.82 billion US dollars on incoming transfers, against receiving $1.77 billion US dollars from outgoing transfers."

Brazilian clubs conducted 1190 deals for incoming transfers, against 1005 deals in outgoing transfers.
