Khaberni - The French authorities prohibited the circulation of several batches of infant milk as part of strict precautionary measures, after suspecting they might contain the toxic substance ceriolid amid health and judicial investigations related to the deaths of two infants in recent weeks.
The official French product withdrawal site reported that the company "La Marque On Mo" withdrew three batches of infant milk based on new recommendations from the relevant authorities due to concerns about product safety. This action is part of a wave of precautionary recalls involving major companies, including Nestle, "Danone," and "Lactalis."
The health and judicial authorities in France commenced extensive investigations following the registration of two deaths of infants under one year old, in cases suspected to have a possible link with the consumption of withdrawn synthetic infant milk.

Official bodies confirmed that serious health symptoms appeared on the two children shortly before their death, prompting a scrutiny into the quality of nutrition they received.
The French judiciary opened two separate investigations related to infant dry milk from the brand "Gigoz," owned by Nestle, which was precautionarily withdrawn on suspicion of contamination with ceriolid substance. So far, authorities have not established a confirmed causal relationship between the two deaths and the consumption of the suspected milk.
The first case dates back to an infant born in late December 2025 and died at the beginning of January within a hospital near the city of Bordeaux, where the public prosecutor reported that the child had consumed synthetic milk from Gigoz a few days before his death. The second case involves a 27-day-old girl who died in the city of Angers, and her mother informed investigators of using the same milk.
As part of expanding the investigation, the National Police and the Directorate for the Protection of Populations monitored the distribution and consumption of the milk, while specialized laboratories were employed to conduct necessary tests.
The French Minister of Health confirmed that all batches of the suspected infant milk had been completely withdrawn from the markets, emphasizing that the safety of infants is an absolute priority, and the authorities are handling the issue with utmost seriousness and transparency.
In the same context, Danone announced the voluntary recall of two batches of infant milk as a precaution, while the Lactalis group revealed the withdrawal of batches from its products in France and several other countries, including Australia, China, Spain, Kuwait, and Taiwan, due to similar concerns related to the substance ceriolid.
