President of the Medical Association We are not against taxes and the objection is to the tax assessments

Khaberni - Isa Al-Khashashneh, the head of the Jordanian Medical Association, confirmed on Tuesday that the association is not against taxes, but rather for implementing them as stated in the law for the year 2018.

He emphasized, after his meeting with the Parliamentary Health and Food Committee, that the association is against tax evasion, according to Al-Mamlaka.

He pointed out that the criticisms related to tax collection concern the old accounts.

"Doctors criticized the imposition of large amounts on them from 2022 until now," according to Al-Khashashneh.

The Parliamentary Health and Food Committee discussed on Tuesday the taxes on doctors in the private sector.

He continued: "Those who objected were imposed with multiples more taxes, and we have reached a solution with the Director General of Income and Sales Tax regarding this file."

Al-Khashashneh emphasized that doctors are against tax evasion, but they are discussing the tax assessments.

He explained that any doctor who has observations can send a representative to the Income and Sales Tax Department, or the doctor can sit with the tax director to reach a solution.

Regarding compliance with the national billing system, he said that the invoicing system is in effect, noting that most doctors deal with insurance companies that request invoicing.

According to Al-Khashashneh, 90% of doctors comply with invoicing.

The number of registrants in the national electronic invoicing system has reached approximately 156 thousand taxpayers, while the number of invoices issued daily exceeds one million, according to a previous statement by the Director General of Income and Sales Tax Hossam Abu Ali.

Earlier, the Income and Sales Tax Department clarified that some doctors do not charge their fees and medical charges through electronic payment cards, stating that it has become available, under the provisions of Article (23) of the system licensing Human Medicine Clinics and Centers No. (25) for the year 2025.

The department indicated that it has become possible for any patient or visitor to pay the doctor's fees and any medical charges at the clinic or medical center by electronic payment cards and receive an electronic invoice issued through the national electronic invoicing system.
