Jordan Third Most Targeted by Cyberattacks Linked to the Iran War

Khaberni - Standard & Poor's warned that warfare in the Middle East is no longer confined to traditional military operations, but has shifted to hybrid warfare that includes extensive cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure and economic systems, raising the level of risk to the global economy and supply chains.

Jordan ranked third regionally in terms of the number of cyberattacks related to the conflict, after Israel and Kuwait. However, no actual disruptions in vital services or economic systems were recorded, reflecting the effectiveness of local cybersecurity and the resilient digital infrastructure of critical sectors, as well as the country's ability to quickly absorb electronic shocks and prevent them from turning into operational or economic crises.

The agency’s report, which "Al-Mamlaka" viewed, indicates a significant escalation in cyberattacks sponsored by Iran or groups linked to it, focusing on sensitive sectors such as governments, financial sector, energy, and telecommunications, aiming to disrupt basic services and destabilize economic stability.

The report also noted that satellite navigation systems experienced disruptions affecting the movement of more than 1,100 ships in the Arabian Gulf, posing a threat to the safety of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of global oil and gas exports pass.
