Khaberni - The declining health of Iraqi artist Maimoun Al-Khalidi has raised concerns among the artistic community and the audience, amid widespread calls for support after a decades-long career.
Social media sites witnessed a large wave of sympathy following reports of the deteriorating health of Iraqi artist Maimoun Al-Khalidi, a prominent figure in theater and television, after he suffered a health crisis that left him bedridden.
Al-Khalidi received official attention from the Iraqi Artists' Syndicate, where a delegation visited his home to check on his health situation and assess his needs, in a gesture that resonated widely among followers.
The syndicate published a photo of the artist as he lay in his bed, surrounded by members of the delegation, accompanied by messages of support and wishes for a speedy recovery and return to his distinguished artistic activity.
Maimoun Al-Khalidi was born in the city of Diwaniyah in 1950 and received his artistic education at the Fine Arts Institute in Baghdad, before earning his master's and doctorate degrees during the 1980s.
He began his artistic career in the theater since the 1970s with the Popular Theater Group and presented theatrical works that received critical and public acclaim, earning him several accolades.
His experience also extended to radio, television, and cinema, and he participated in prominent series such as «Beit Al-Tin», «Abu Al-Tayyeb Al-Mutanabbi», «Al-Asma’i», «Souq Al-Jawhar» and «Al-Siyab», in addition to well-known theatrical works like «Makashafat» and «Al-Zunoug».
Throughout his long career, Al-Khalidi won numerous awards, notably the Best Actor Award at the Baghdad Theater Festival in 2005, in addition to other awards in the 1980s, solidifying his status as one of the pillars of acting in Iraq.
