The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Summons the French Chargé dAffairs Over a Documentary Program

Khaberni  - The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the French Embassy Chargé d'Affaires following the broadcast of a documentary by "France 2" which Algeria considered to be a media work containing lies and serious slanders affecting the state, its institutions, and its symbols.

The ministry stated in a release that the summoning of the French diplomat came in response to the public channel "France 2" presenting, falsely and maliciously, what it claims to be a documentary; whereas, in reality, it is nothing but a concoction of lies and slanders that entail profound insults and unjustifiable provocations.

The ministry noted that it had pointed out to the French diplomat the extreme gravity of "the responsibility of a French public service channel in this assault on the Algerian state and its institutions and symbols, an assault which this public channel would not have made without either complicity or, at the very least, approval from the public authorities overseeing it."

It also reported that it informed the ambassador that "contrary to all diplomatic norms and practices, the involvement of the French Embassy in Algeria and the ambassador's personal participation in promoting this offensive campaign led by this public channel, seems to suggest that this campaign may have been endorsed by official French entities."

It indicated that the conduct of the concerned French channel represents a new phase in the escalation of practices hostile to Algeria, overseen by French official circles with the aim to keep the Algerian-French relations in a state of perpetual crisis.

The Algerian government condemned in the strongest terms the program in question and the unacceptable accusations and insults against the Algerian state and its institutions.

It also expressed strong rejection of the involvement of the French ambassador in Algeria in committing acts that clearly contradict the duties as defined by laws and established by international norms.

In its statement, it affirmed that it had notified the French diplomat that the Algerian government reserves the right to take all measures required by the gravity of such actions.

The channel "France 2" aired an episode of the program "Complément d’enquête" on Thursday evening titled: "Rumors and Underhanded Hits: The Secret War Between France and Algeria".

The investigation sparked a wave of controversy and reactions in the media and political spheres, especially on social media platforms.

The episode detailed what the channel claimed to be a "secret intelligence war between Paris and Algeria", primarily involving the influencer "Amir Dz".
