Khaberni - The Ministry of Environment stated that the government is launching educational materials to reduce random waste dumping on 128 digital billboards in the capital Amman, in addition to 10 billboards in Aqaba and 300 billboards inside Amman's buses, and 26 billboards will be installed on bridges and roadside in the provinces.
The ministry noted on Thursday that the campaign includes sending 6 million text messages until the end of this current January, in addition to sending educational messages through government email using the (Sand) application and in coordination with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
The ministry also mentioned that the educational materials will be broadcast on 6 radio channels, in addition to publishing educational messages on social networking sites owned by the ministries, partner government institutions, environmental associations, local communities, electronic news sites, and environmental activists.
This month, the government launched the National Executive Program for the Cleanliness Strategy and the Reduction of Random Waste Dumping for the years 2026–2027, in a step that reflects a comprehensive national commitment to protecting public health and the environment by improving general cleanliness levels in various provinces of the kingdom.
The executive program is based on four main pillars that address the phenomenon of random waste dumping through a comprehensive system of regulatory, technical, supervisory, and educational measures, which were designed based on a realistic assessment of needs and challenges in different areas, and depends on an inclusive approach that integrates environmental and developmental policies, reinforces the principles of sustainability and resource conservation, improves quality of life for citizens, enhances Jordan's position as a tourism destination, reduces waste management costs, and stimulates the circular economy.
The Minister of Environment and head of the Steering Committee for the Reduction of Random Waste Dumping, Ayman Sulaiman, said in a previous statement that the executive program includes the launch of a special electronic system for environmental violations which includes the installation of cameras, 50 in Amman and 250 in other provinces which will be mobile, stating that the fines range from 50 to 500 dinars.
