Civil Status About 9 million carry the national number

Khaberni -  Last year, the number of Jordanian citizens registered civilly and residing inside and outside the kingdom was 8 million 907 thousand 356, who carry the national number, according to the statistics of the Department of Civil Status and Passports.

The data indicate that 48% of the citizens are under the age of 24, according to Ghayth Ghazi Al-Tayeb, the Director-General of the Civil Status Department.

Al-Tayeb added that the name "Mohammed" was the most registered name in the department last year, followed by the names Ahmad, Youssef, Omar, and Adam, while the name "Musk" topped the list of the most registered names among female newborns, followed by the names Wateen, Salma, and Maryam.

Based on a statistic, the number of newborns under one year old was 145,934, constituting 1.6% of the total number of citizens, and the number of those who are over the age of 95 was about 6,043 citizens, distributed at 2,106 males, compared to 3,937 females.
