Khaberni - The German manufacturer Audi, which is preparing for its first appearance in the Formula 1 World Championship this season after acquiring the Sauber team, last Tuesday unveiled its first single-seater car in history, affirming its ambition "to win titles by 2030".
The "Audi R 26" car appeared with a predominantly grey paint job and highlighted the four red rings of the German brand's logo on the rear wing, in a design that aims to be "the most elegant and distinctive on the starting grid." Said Italian Matteo Binotto, project leader, "The 2026 regulations created the perfect moment to enter Formula 1."
This season's cars will undergo significant changes to comply with new technical regulations that make them smaller and lighter. The hybrid engine used since 2014 will be modified with an increased reliance on electric power and using "100% sustainable" fuel.
British team director Jonathan Wheatley added, "Our path to the top is based on a clear plan, but it will be determined by our mentality: resilience, precision, and an unending curiosity. We will build a team that embodies these values; we are here to challenge, evolve, and ultimately to win."
Like the other ten teams in Formula 1, the new car, which will be driven by German Nico Hulkenberg and Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto this season, will have its first trials on the track next week during closed tests at the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit.
