Khaberni - The Syrian presidency confirmed on Tuesday that a mutual understanding was reached between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), regarding several issues concerning the future of Al-Hasakah province.
The Syrian presidency stated in a release that an agreement was made to grant the SDF four days to consult in order to devise a detailed plan for the practical integration of the regions.
The presidency said: "In case of agreement, the Syrian forces will not enter the city centers of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli but will remain on their outskirts. The timeline and details of the peaceful integration of Al-Hasakah province, including Qamishli city, will be discussed later."
It added: "It was also confirmed that the Syrian military forces will not enter the Kurdish villages, and there will be no armed forces in those villages except for local security forces from the region's sons according to the agreement."
The Syrian presidency indicated in its statement that "Mazloum Abdi will nominate a candidate from the SDF for the position of Assistant Minister of Defense, along with proposing a candidate for the governor of Al-Hasakah, names for representation in the People’s Council, and a list of individuals to be employed within the Syrian state institutions."
It confirmed that the two parties agreed on the integration of all military and security forces of the "SDF" within the Ministries of Defense and Interior, while discussions about the detailed integration mechanism will continue. Civil institutions will also be merged within the framework of the Syrian government.
It clarified that Decree No. 13 concerning linguistic, cultural rights, and citizenship rights of the Kurds will be implemented, reflecting a shared commitment to building a united and strong Syria based on national partnership and ensuring rights for all its components.
It noted that the implementation of this understanding will begin starting from 8 PM this evening.
