Release of Egyptian YouTuber Mohamed Abdel Aaty

Khaberni - Egyptian investigation authorities have approved the release of YouTuber Mohamed Abdel Aaty after completing his imprisonment duration in a case involving the publication of indecent content on social networks.

Lawyer Ahmed El-Najjar, the defense attorney for YouTuber Mohamed Abdel Aaty, announced that the competent authorities officially endorsed the decision to release his client after he served the full sentence in the case where he was accused of posting videos that were indecent to public decency on social media platforms.

The Economic Misdemeanor Appellate Court had accepted the appeal submitted by the accused and decided to reduce the initial sentence from two years to only three months, based on the same charges.

During the appeal, Mohamed Abdel Aaty attended the courtroom from his detention, noticeably thinner, which his defense highlighted during the session.

Lawyer Ahmed El-Najjar clarified that his client is a content creator on YouTube, not a "TikToker" who relies on live streaming or gifts, emphasizing that the content he produces is reviewed by the platform before it is published and is categorized for viewers over 18 and does not target children or adolescents.

The defense added that they requested during the plea to show examples of dramatic works containing similar scenes and insinuations but the court refused the request, stating such materials should not be displayed inside the deliberation room.
