Military Consumerism 28 Containers of Tunisian Olive Oil to Arrive Before Ramadan

Khaberni - The director of the Military Consumer Establishment, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Hadid, said that the establishment continues to receive shipments of contracted olive oil, noting that sea shipping takes time and that the first batch has been distributed between the two institutions.

He explained in statements on Hayat FM radio that the import was done through the military establishment, where so far 3 containers each of 40 feet have arrived, while 7 additional containers are scheduled to arrive this week.

He added that the contract included large quantities, amounting in the first batch to about 2000 tons of olive oil, with new batches arriving every week or every ten days, with the last batch of the contracted quantities arriving on 10/2.

He pointed out that the military establishment had set up a mechanism to distribute the oil at a rate of one gallon per citizen, noting that a number of traders tried to buy large quantities, which necessitated the requirement to purchase other goods with the oil to ensure it reaches the largest number of families possible. He mentioned that the quantities sold out within two hours due to high demand, affirming that the establishment made efforts to deliver the oil to the citizens despite the limited quantities compared to the demand.

Al-Hadid confirmed that it is expected that 7 containers will arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday, in addition to 10 containers of 40 feet at the beginning of February, and 18 new containers on 10/2, which will ensure the availability of the oil in sufficient quantities on the shelves of the establishment.

He noted that the establishment received the first batch of Tunisian olive oil, and that the situations in the region affected the arrival times of the ships, where last week experienced a delay in shipping. He concluded by confirming that all contracted quantities will arrive before Ramadan, and will be available in large amounts for the citizens.
