Khaberni - The family of the former Mayor of Karak, Dr. Abdullah Zaal Al-Damour, refused to receive the US Ambassador (James Holtsneider) in Jordan while he was attempting to offer his condolences at the deceased's memorial house, located at the Diwan of the Sons of Karak in Dabouq, the capital Amman.
Eye witnesses told Khaberni that the ambassador's escort requested permission to enter the condolence house, but the deceased's relatives politely declined, justifying their stance by citing the late father's well-known Arab nationalist positions throughout his public career.
This comes at a time when the US Ambassador's activity in Jordan has been notably increasing, marked by his frequent presence at various governmental bodies and ministries, along with an expanded range of his social visits, including participation in condolence houses and wedding ceremonies within the kingdom, sparking widespread debate in the media, political, social, and public spheres in Jordan regarding the nature, timing, and implications of these appearances.
