The Public Security Directorate’s spokesperson clarified last Wednesday that a force from the Anti-Narcotics Department carried out a security operation to arrest one of the dangerous wanted individuals in the eastern regions of the capital, where he immediately opened fire on the force, resulting in the martyrdom of First Lieutenant Murad As'oud Al-Mawajdeh, Sergeant Khaledoon Ahmad Al-Ruqb, and Corporal Subhi Mohammad Dweikat, and another non-commissioned officer was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
By assignment from the former minister, Haditha Jamal Al-Kharisha, Sheikh Talal Saitan Al-Madi will handle the tribal procedures for the martyrs and wounded of duty according to the traditional tribal customs, on behalf of the killer’s family, in compliance with morals and ethical norms.
Representatives of the Al-Kharisha tribes held a meeting last Wednesday chaired by Sheikh Mujahim Haditha Al-Kharisha in their Diwan, and issued the following statement:
1- We strongly condemn the criminal act by Yazan Oweidat that led to the martyrdom of three Public Security men while performing their national duty in combating drugs and protecting citizens and the state.
2- We demand the state impose the severest legal penalties on the murderer and hold him fully responsible, and we disassociate from his disgraceful act.
3- The Oweidat family must carry out all the required tribal procedures towards the families of the martyrs.
4- We stand with the security forces and the state with all its institutions, and we will support them in enforcing the law against those who break it.
The statement affirmed support for the state and the security apparatus under the auspices of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and his Crown Prince the Trustee.
In turn, the sons of the late Suleiman Oweidat issued a statement saying:
"We denounce and strongly condemn what our cousin’s son, the late Saleh Suleiman Oweidat, did with the Public Security officers, we totally reject it, and we declare our complete innocence from him.
It is noted that the criminal Yazan and his brothers left Al-Moqar since 2009, we do not know their current whereabouts, and we have no relationship with them.
We demand the state undertake the severest legal actions and hold the murderer fully responsible, we declare our innocence from his actions, and we support enforcing penalties against anyone who assaults the Public Security personnel and state apparatuses.
We affirm our loyalty to His Majesty the Great King and his Crown Prince the Trustee, we express our belonging to the Jordanian homeland and its security apparatus, and we offer our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to the people of Jordan, affirming our complete innocence from this incident."
