Khaberni - The Red Star of David announced this Monday evening about changing the sound of ambulance sirens in some of its vehicles from the traditional ascending and descending sound to the Hi-Lo sound, known as "Auto Gelida" (resembling the sound of ice cream vans), with the aim of reducing psychological stress on the public amidst the heightened alert due to tensions with Iran.
The Red Star of David clarified that this measure is not the result of any change in the security or medical situation assessment but is intended to prevent any unjustified fear or panic among Israelis, especially during the current sensitive period.
The administration stated in a message issued to field teams: "In recent days, several requests were received by the General Manager to reduce the use of siren sounds ascending and descending in emergency vehicles. Accordingly, the use of Hi-Lo (Auto Gelida) siren sound was directed, whereas vehicles that do not have this sound, such as motorcycles, will continue using the usual rapid sound."
The Red Star of David indicated that not all its vehicles can change the sound, and some cars will continue using the traditional sirens.
This decision is part of the efforts by the Israeli official entities to reduce any unnecessary tension among Israelis amidst an extreme state of alert, without indicating any change in emergency preparedness or the actual security situation.
