Khaberni - The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the first outbreak of "Norovirus" on a cruise ship this year, resulting in dozens of passengers and crew members becoming infected.
According to data from the federal health agency, about 90 people were infected with the disease on a ship belonging to "Holland America Line" during its voyage that began on December 28 last year and lasted until January 9 this year.
"Norovirus" is a highly contagious virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, with symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain, and can lead to dehydration, especially in weak bodies.
Health authorities and maritime companies typically impose strict protocols for dealing with such infections, including intensive surface sanitization, isolating the infected, and providing necessary medical care, in addition to enhancing general hygiene measures onboard the ship.
Such viruses are recognized health risks in enclosed and crowded environments like cruise ships.
