Khaberni - The number of applications submitted for licenses and permits to establish public electric vehicle charging stations rose by 9% in November of last year compared to the same month the year before last, according to the latest data released by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission.
The number of these applications reached 37 compared to 34 during the same month last year, out of a total of 62 applications the Commission had received across various activities in the renewable energy and electricity sector compared to 43 applications received in the same sector during the same month the year before last, according to Al-Ghad.
It is noted that the charging of public and private vehicles is subject to a time-linked tariff starting from the first of July the year before last, where the peak period is determined from 5 PM until 11 PM, and the home vehicle charging tariff is 160 fils, and public station vehicle charging is 133 fils, and the off-peak period from 5 AM until 2 PM, and the home vehicle charging tariff is 108 fils, and from public stations 103 fils, and the public station prices do not include the commission set by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission. Furthermore, the applications received by the Commission in November last year in the renewable energy and electricity sector included one application for the first-time issuance of a license for individuals working in the renewable energy sector along with 22 applications for renewing previously issued licenses and permits in the sector, including 17 applications for individuals, 4 applications for private charging station licenses, one for a public charging station, in addition to two applications for amending licenses of public charging stations.
During the same month last year, the Commission received one application for a first-time license for individuals working in the sector, in addition to renewing 8 previously issued licenses for individuals in the sector.
