WhatsApp Launches New Features for Organizing Groups

Meta announced the release of a new update for the "WhatsApp" app, which includes three main features aimed at improving the management of group conversations and enhancing expression methods within the app.

WhatsApp stated in an official statement that the new update, starting this year, will provide group chats with greater organization and flexibility, whether they are family groups, study groups, or communities with shared interests.

It mentioned that these features had previously appeared in beta versions before being officially made available to users. The company said that facilitating group work contributes to staying constantly connected with others, regardless of the type of device they use.

Here are the key new features in "WhatsApp":

1- Member Tags

This feature allows users to give themselves a custom tag in each group separately, which clarifies to the rest of the members the nature of the speaker's work or role. The importance of these tags is highlighted in large groups where not all members may know each other, such as clubs, parent groups, or community associations.

For example, you could appear as "Aya's father" in one group, and as "goalkeeper" in another.

2- Text Stickers

Within the new update, users can now directly turn words or phrases into stickers by entering the text in the sticker search bar; the app creates them immediately.

WhatsApp also allows adding newly created stickers directly to your sticker packs without needing to send them in the chat first.

3- Event Reminders

WhatsApp has also developed a feature for reminders that precede events, allowing the sending of notifications reminding of the event before its scheduled time as set by the user. These reminders help users keep their appointments, whether they are business meetings or social events.

WhatsApp says that this update is part of its role in enhancing community management, especially amidst fierce competition with other apps that act as organizers for appointments and tasks such as "Discord" and "Slack".

The company points out that these updates join a set of features launched over the past years to bring groups closer together, which also included sharing large files (up to 2 gigabytes), sending media in "high definition" (HD), screen sharing, voice chats, and much more.
