Gemini Fails to Win Over Minors Google Reveals Why

Khaberni  - Last week, Google for the first time revealed details of the design of its AI-powered chat robot "Gemini," which prevents it from acting as a companion or falsely claiming to be human when interacting with minors.

This information was published on the company's blog, as part of changes aimed at improving mental health support for "Gemini" users.

Google stated that "Gemini" is equipped with "personality controls" when interacting with users under the age of 18, which are restrictions aimed at preventing emotional attachment and avoiding "language that mimics intimacy or expresses needs," according to a report by the technology news site "Mashable," viewed by "Al Arabiya Business."

Other protective measures aim to deter the chat robot from bullying and other types of harassment.

Google said in a blog post: "Our safety efforts continue to evolve and reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a healthy and positive digital environment, where young people can explore and learn with confidence."

This revelation by Google coincides with its announcement of a "Gemini" update to simplify access to available resources for users who may need to access mental health services or are seeking them.

A new system with a "one-click" interface will provide users with various links to connect with crisis line resources, including through chat, phone calls, or texting.

In March, the family of an adult man filed a lawsuit against Google and its parent company Alphabet, claiming that he ended his life based on directions from "Gemini."

Google stated at the time: "Gemini was designed not to encourage real-world violence or suggest self-harm," adding: "Typically, our models perform well in these types of difficult conversations, and we allocate significant resources to it, but unfortunately, AI models are not perfect."
