Khaberni - The technical director of the Olympic football team for under 23, Omar Najahi, confirmed the team's ability to reach the Asian Cup finals currently being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Coach Omar Najahi from Morocco stated this after yesterday's Friday victory over the Saudi team with a score of 3-2.
Najahi expressed during the press conference held last night the importance of the victory after stumbling in the first match against Vietnam, emphasizing that the team started the match highly focused and with a strong desire to win.
He added: "We were aware of the difficulty of the match and the size of the pressure we were under after stumbling against Vietnam, but we believed in our chances and were certain that we could go far in the tournament".
The national Olympic team concludes the group stages by facing Kyrgyzstan the day after tomorrow, Monday. At the same time, the teams from Saudi Arabia and Vietnam will meet to decide the identity of the teams advancing to the next round.
Currently, the Vietnamese team leads the group with 6 points, followed by Jordan and Saudi Arabia with 3 points each, and Kyrgyzstan with 0.
According to the tournament system, the 16 participating teams were divided into 4 groups, each containing 4 teams. They compete in a single-round robin stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
