Khaberni - An analysis by an international group of scientists reported that the thermal content of the world's oceans, up to a depth of 2000 meters, rose to a record temperature in 2025, reaching the highest level since recording began, and for the ninth consecutive year of warming.
The scientists concluded in a study published today, Friday, that the thermal energy increased by approximately 23 quadrillion mega joules in 2025 compared to 2024, noting that quadrillion represents a one followed by fifteen zeros.

The research team led by Lijing Cheng, who works at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, published their findings which included data dating back to 1958 in the scientific journal "Advances in Atmospheric Sciences". With regard to the average global sea surface temperatures, the year 2025 was the third warmest year after 2024 and 2003.
