Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Greater Irbid Municipality, Ghaith Al-Tal, said that the emergency teams dealt with about 85 complaints from the beginning of the current weather depression until Friday night.
Al-Tal said that most of the complaints were usual and did not pose any danger to the lives of citizens or properties, noting that most of them involved rising water levels on some roads and water flooding empty plots of land, including one belonging to a nursery where the water was pumped out using suction pumps, in addition to the flooding of some sewage manholes.
Al-Tal added that the municipality's work over the past period has been reflected on the ground; the emergency teams dealt with only two cases related to contractors' excavations; one of them in Howara area, in the middle of a street closed by the municipality due to maintenance work on one of the sewage lines, yet the removal of barriers by some citizens and opening it to vehicles caused some confusion in the area, before the municipality closed it again, especially with the availability of many alternative routes.
He further stated that all water drainage manholes are operating with very high efficiency, as only two complaints were recorded regarding the blockage of two manholes, which were immediately re-operated.
He pointed out that the municipality dealt with the collapse of two walls due to wind and the force of water flow at two different sites, resulting in no damages or injuries, as they were dealt with immediately by constructing barriers to prevent the continuous flow of water causing further damages, in addition to pumping water from the sites.
He mentioned that during the field rounds of the municipal teams, a rise in water levels was observed on Aleppo Street, located east of the Officers Club, and it was included in the immediate action plan, with a drainage line to be constructed as soon as the weather depression ended.
