Khaberni - The Minister of Local Administration, Walid Al-Masri, inspected on Friday evening the readiness of Jerash governorate's municipalities to deal with the repercussions of the weather depression being experienced in the kingdom, in the presence of Jerash Governor Malik Khreisat and the heads of municipal committees in the governorate, as part of field follow-up of the precautionary measures taken in the provinces.
The minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperative work and coordination between the municipalities, administrative governors, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Civil Defense Directorate, and all relevant entities, and the necessity to elevate the level of field readiness, to preserve the safety of citizens and their properties, especially concerning the maintenance and cleaning of flood channels and valleys, addressing critical spots, in addition to ensuring the readiness of machinery and technical staff for quick intervention when needed.
Al-Masri stressed the need to adhere to the risk levels indicated in the early warning map issued by the Ministry of Local Administration, weather forecasts from the Meteorology Department, and to take appropriate preventative measures according to the specificity of each area, contributing to minimizing potential risks during the weather condition.
He also called for an immediate response to citizens' remarks and dealing with complaints received during the weather depression, working to address recurring observations, which enhances performance efficiency and raises the level of readiness in dealing with emergency weather conditions.
The minister heard from the heads of municipal committees, the president of the Joint Services and Municipal Affairs Council, a briefing on the measures adopted by the municipalities and councils, the emergency plans being implemented by municipal staff, machinery readiness, proactive preparations, and emergency rooms, as well as the major challenges and measures taken to ensure continuity of services and safety of citizens.
For his part, Jerash Governor Malik Khreisat affirmed that all relevant agencies are operating within an integrated emergency plan, pointing to the high readiness of technical staff and machinery to deal with any developments that may arise, and monitoring observations around the clock, through service departments and rapid response teams, ensuring swift intervention and no delays.
