Khaberni - The "Daily Telegraph" British newspaper reported that the United Kingdom might adopt strict measures against the "X" platform, which includes possibly banning it due to explicit images produced by the "Grook" AI robot.
The newspaper quoted government sources saying that these potential measures are being considered within the framework of the "Online Safety Bill" and could include imposing fines amounting to billions of pounds sterling, or even banning access to the social network within the United Kingdom.
According to the information, the issue concerns explicit images produced by the "Grook" robot upon users' requests, targeting women and children, also known as "Deepfakes". The newspaper indicated that such images have already impacted prominent public figures, including Catherine, Princess of Wales, celebrities, and members of the Cabinet and Parliament.
The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, confirmed in a radio interview that he had tasked the media regulatory authority "Ofcom" to study all possible options to tackle the problem.
Starmer said: "X platform needs to get the situation under control, and Ofcom has our full support to take action in this matter. It is wrong. It's illegal. And we will not tolerate it."
This British threat follows an earlier action by the European Commission, which on January 8 accused the "X" platform of allowing "Grook" users to create anti-Semitic content and content that encourages sexual harassment of children.
The Commission issued a directive to the platform to retain all documents related to this neural network until the end of 2026, an action interpreted as a precursor to presenting new legal charges.
