Municipalities Directed to Elevate Readiness for Expected Weather Conditions

Khaberni - The Ministry of Local Administration directed the municipalities, joint service councils, and municipal affairs directorates to elevate their readiness levels to the maximum, in order to deal with the weather depression expected to affect the kingdom tomorrow morning, as part of preemptive measures to ensure public safety.
The ministry, the municipalities, and the service councils reviewed detailed reports issued by the Meteorological Department and the early warning maps showing the expected levels of danger in some areas.
According to the early warning maps, some municipalities in the governorates of Karak and Tafilah will witness very high danger levels (dark red), including the larger municipalities of Karak, Ai, Mu’tah, and Al-Mazar.
Moreover, the municipalities of Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, the capital Amman, Madaba, Balqa, Karak, and Tafilah have been classified within the high danger zone (red level).
Meanwhile, the maps predict medium danger levels in the municipalities of Aqaba, Mafraq, and Zarqa governorates, in addition to some municipalities in the Ma'an governorate and some municipalities south of the capital Amman.
The ministry directed the heads of the municipalities committees, heads of joint service councils, and municipal affairs directors, to monitor these sites on the ground, to ensure the readiness of valleys, water runoffs, channels, box culverts, and pipe culverts, and stormwater drains, to ensure the smooth flow of water and avoid sudden flood formation.
The ministry instructed the committee heads, council heads, and directors, to personally oversee the preparations, to operate emergency rooms around the clock, and coordinate with the relevant authorities including administrative governors, civil defense, and the Ministry of Public Works, to ensure the protection of citizens' lives and properties.
The ministry emphasized that any negligence in implementing the required measures or monitoring the dangerous sites would subject the negligent to accountability.
The ministry urged citizens, especially in the mentioned areas, to exercise extreme caution, stay away from riverbeds and water gathering areas, and comply with the instructions of the official authorities announced.
