Khaberni - The Meteorological Department stated that the impact of the weather depression affecting the Kingdom will increase in the coming hours, indicating that the provinces of Karak and Tafilah are experiencing heavy rainfall, along with the northern and central areas that have been affected since dawn.
The weather forecaster in the department, Mohammad Al-Khaldi, told "Al-Mamlaka" channel that Aqaba is also experiencing light to moderate rainfall.
Al-Khaldi explained that the impact of the depression will increase in the coming hours, during which flash floods may form and it is possible that the affecting mass will be accompanied by hail.
Al-Khaldi stated that there are no weather indications in the near future indicating the possibility of snowfall, with the possibility of light showers over high mountains.
The Meteorological Department stated that the Kingdom is currently affected by a weather depression accompanied by a cold and humid air mass, which began affecting since the morning with cold and cloudy weather, accompanied by rainfall in several areas, sometimes heavy, especially in the north, center, and southwestern regions of the Kingdom.
It clarified on Friday that the impact of the depression continues, where the weather remains cold to very cold and rainy, with periods of heavy precipitation, which increases the risk of flash floods in valleys and low areas and the rise of water levels, especially in the north and center of the Kingdom, in addition to the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Westerly winds are also active and may be accompanied by strong gusts reaching speeds of about 60 km/h, especially over the highlands.
The Meteorology detailed that the weather on Saturday remains cold, with the chance of scattered rain showers, followed by gradually stabilizing weather by evening hours, and extremely cold conditions at night.
It added that Sunday experiences relative stability and a gradual increase in temperatures, with cold morning conditions and clear and cold conditions at night, with the possibility of frost formation in some areas.
As for Monday, the weather remains cold and stable during the day in most regions, with some low clouds appearing, and the Kingdom gradually being affected during the night by a new weather depression, where clouds multiply at different altitudes, and there is a chance late at night for rain showers in the north and center of the Kingdom, before the impact deepens on Tuesday morning, and winds are moderate southwesterly, occasionally active.
Ministries and municipalities announced their highest readiness to deal with the expected weather depression affecting the Kingdom starting from Friday morning, confirming the readiness of their relevant staff to deal with any potential effects.
The relevant authorities confirmed proactive measures and raised the level of readiness to deal with the weather depression.
