Khaberni - Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the head of the Greater Amman Municipality committee, directed the necessity of providing the best electronic services to citizens, employing all technological capabilities to ensure the durability and efficiency of these services.
This came during his inspection of the workflow in the Information Technology Directorate following the activation of providing all electronic services to citizens on the Greater Amman Municipality’s website, which was after updating the data for opening accounts for the new financial year 2026.
Al-Shawarbeh reviewed the mechanism for implementing the Cabinet's decision issued on 1/6/2026, which stipulates extending its decision concerning granting discounts and exemptions on building and land taxes (rooftops), education tax, sewage contribution, inspection fees, returns, compensations, road waste, rentals, and their due proceeds for the benefit of municipalities and the Greater Amman Municipality until the end of the working day on 3/31/2026.
Al-Shawarbeh explained that according to the legal opinion of the Legislation Bureau dated 1/7/2026, applications submitted for building licenses in 2025 for buildings existing before 12/31/2024 would benefit from fee reductions and facilitations on violations within the percentages specified by regulation No. 13/2025 for the submitted applications, where facilitations and fee reductions on electronic services were activated today.
Al-Shawarbeh emphasized the importance of providing services with accuracy, speed, and transparency, in line with the developments witnessed by the capital Amman in all service fields, noting that improving the quality of these services and ease of access to them is a top priority to simplify procedures, and save time and effort for reviewers, especially as the municipality is working on a project to re-engineer its procedures aimed at improving performance efficiency, reducing costs, and reducing service delivery time.
Sultan Al-Kharabsheh, the Executive Director of Information Technology, mentioned that the halting of electronic services was to implement the Cabinet's decision, allowing citizens to benefit from the discounts and facilitations, to protect their rights, and to ensure that decisions issued by the Cabinet are applied according to the law.
