Khaberni - The European Commission announced today, Wednesday, the distribution of about 40,000 train tickets for free travel across Europe, aimed at youth who celebrated their eighteenth birthday last year.
The Commission in Brussels clarified that this initiative comes on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Schengen Area for visa-free movement and allows the winners to travel around Europe for up to 30 days, starting from March 2026 until May 2027.
The initiative also includes a discount card for other public transport modes, cultural offers, and accommodations in 36 European countries.
It is worth mentioning that the "Discover EU" initiative was launched in 2018, and through it, thousands of free tickets are distributed twice annually, to encourage youth to explore Europe and get to know its diverse cultures.
