Khaberni - Amidst the widespread controversy that was stirred about the Wadi Khashibeh agreement, the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties Bloc held a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, which lasted for more than three continuous hours, devoted entirely to examining the details of the agreement and discussing its various dimensions.
The meeting began with Deputy Captain Zuhair Mohammad Al-Khashman, head of the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties Bloc, welcoming His Excellency the Minister and his accompanying delegation from the Ministry of Energy, emphasizing the importance of opening a direct and comprehensive discussion about the agreements affecting economic and national matters.
The head of the bloc asked the minister to provide a detailed statement on the agreement, where the basic clauses were reviewed and official documents related to it were examined before the representatives began posing a series of questions and inquiries that addressed the legal, economic, and technical aspects of the agreement, in addition to the reasons for the controversy that accompanied it in public opinion.
The minister answered the deputies' questions, explaining the background of the agreement and its preparation stages, and clarifying the ministry's position on the raised points, in a discussion characterized by depth and candor, reflecting a diversity of viewpoints within the meeting.
This encounter is part of a different parliamentary approach in dealing with the agreement, as the discussion moved from a public controversy to a detailed parliamentary scrutiny by directly examining the documents and opening the door for extensive accountability and discussion.
It is scheduled that the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties Bloc will hold a later internal meeting to study the proceedings of the encounter and analyze the data and responses raised, in preparation for issuing an official statement clarifying the bloc’s stance on the Abu Khashibeh agreement based on what was discussed during the meeting.
