Khaberni - A high-ranking Venezuelan officer attributed the success of the American operation in Caracas and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro to the American technological superiority, particularly in the fields of communications and satellite navigation.
Edgar Alejandro Lugo Pereira, a colonel in the active reserve of the Venezuelan army, stated to the "Novosti" agency: "The attack was a precisely planned American operation, resembling a surgical strike, and was possible thanks to the immense support of their strategic satellites communications capabilities."
He added that the American forces "extensively used satellite navigation and positioning systems," explaining that "any operation of this scale in the modern era cannot be executed without high-quality space communications, precise geographic coordinates determination, and accurate field intelligence."
Lugo’s statements came after his visit to the military base "Fuerte Tiuna," which is alleged to have been the launch point for the operation that resulted in the kidnapping of Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.
In the meantime, the operation has sparked widespread controversy in the United States, where a number of Democratic lawmakers described it as "illegal," pointing out that Congress was not given the opportunity to approve it, and criticized the lack of a clear plan for after the operation.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed "its full solidarity with the people of Venezuela" and "serious concerns" regarding the reports of the forced deportation of President Maduro and his wife, calling for "their immediate release" and "refraining from any steps that could lead to further escalation in the explosive situation."
