Khaberni - The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Sunday that an Israeli tank collided with its vehicles in the south of the country, where a war has been ongoing between Israel and Hezbollah since March.
A UNIFIL statement reported that on Sunday, Israeli soldiers using a Merkava tank slammed into UNIFIL vehicles, causing major damage in one instance and also blocked a road in the town of Al Bayyada in southern Lebanon "used to access UNIFIL sites."
The statement added, "Last week, Israeli soldiers fired 'warning shots' in the area, hitting and damaging vehicles that were clearly marked as belonging to UNIFIL. In one instance, one of these 'warning shots' landed only one meter away from a peacekeeper after he had disembarked from his vehicle."
