Khaberni - The Cabinet decided in its session held yesterday, Sunday, to cancel its decision taken on 2021/11/7 related to assigning the Minister of Health to proceed with the procedures to cancel the High Health Council Law number (9) of 1999.
This decision aims to reactivate the High Health Council in a step aimed at enhancing health governance and unifying references concerned with setting national health policies, in line with government orientations towards developing the health sector and improving the efficiency of planning and response to current and future health challenges.
The Minister of Health and President of the High Health Council, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour, confirmed that stopping the procedures related to the cancellation of the High Health Council and reactivating it marks a pivotal station in the journey of health reform, indicating that the council will work on setting health policies and strategies after this decision, ensuring coordination and integration between various parties involved in both public and private sectors.
Al-Badour added that the next phase will witness organized institutional work based on evidence and scientific data, which will positively reflect on the quality of health services provided to citizens, as the High Health Council is the top national authority responsible for setting health policies and coordinating efforts among various health sectors.
Dr. Al-Badour pointed out that the High Health Council will contribute to rationalizing health spending and enhancing the efficiency of resource use through proper planning and coordination, in addition to supporting health decision-making based on national priorities, confirming that the Ministry of Health will work in cooperation with all partners to activate the role of the council and enable it to perform its tasks according to the best global practices.
He emphasized that the upcoming phase will witness the activation of specialized technical committees and enhancement of partnerships with academic and professional institutions, ensuring the achievement of the council's objectives and its strategic role in supporting the national health system.
