The government More than 35 of Jordanian youth participate in political parties

Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Khawaldeh, confirmed on Sunday that party reform is represented by evaluating past events, noting that the political modernization system is not limited to legislation and laws alone but also includes a cultural and social dimension.

Khawaldeh said during his talk on the "Voice of the Kingdom" program that after the parliamentary elections according to the new legislation resulting from the political modernization system, it has become necessary to evaluate the experience. This includes identifying the challenges faced by the experience and the available opportunities, and working to benefit from and develop them through various mechanisms.

He added that political parties are required to evaluate their experience and programs, as they play a major role in the political modernization system, noting that these parties are the foundational institutions in this process, having participated in the elections, presented their programs, and some have reached parliament.

Khawaldeh pointed out that other institutions involved in the evaluation process include research centers, media, civil society, and universities, which contribute to the systematic and objective evaluation.

Regarding youth, Khawaldeh noted that universities are a fundamental part of the modernization system because they include the largest proportion of Jordanian youth.

He added that youth at this age are the most accepting of change and interactive with what happens around them, noting that in a few years, they will lead development in society.

He added that party work in Jordan dates back to the beginning of the establishment of the state of Jordan, and that the government is working to make this system successful through cooperation with all ministries involved in implementing the outputs and recommendations of political modernization.

Khawaldeh stated that the percentage of youth participating in political parties has exceeded 35%, a rate that did not exist previously, thus enhancing the presence of youth and women in political parties.

He explained that the government has created a legislative environment conducive to party and political work, noting that not all Jordanians or Jordanian youth are required to become party members; it is limited to those interested and willing to engage in this field.

In his turn, Saleh Jaradat, Vice Dean of Student Affairs at Yarmouk University, said that Jordanian universities must work to encourage students to engage in party work, in response to the outputs of the political modernization system.

Jaradat pointed out that universities have organized many seminars and conferences to encourage party work, indicating that the recent Student Union elections at Yarmouk University were "party-flavored."

He believed that the electoral term for student unions in universities, which lasts for one year, is not sufficient to produce party youth leaders, prompting an extension of this period to two years in the coming session. He confirmed that this extension offers students the opportunity to undergo a party experience enabling them to integrate into party life outside the university.
